Back in February, I wrote about how Denim Blue had regained its place in the home interior spotlight - but now blue in all its wonderful shades is vying for a space in your home.

If you want to be spot on trend for 2010, here are a few hints on how to work this rich, moody color into your space:

Work a spectrum of true blues together in one room to keep the look sophisticated. For example, a punchy blue on a modern sofa, such as the one pictured above, brings a laid-back neutral palette up a notch.

If you don't want to change the whole sofa, a simple collection of blue accessories can still be a show stopper. Go for vibrant, bold hues for the greatest impact.

Use blue as a unifier when mixing eras and styles. Choose from the beautiful and vast range of blues, from turquoise to deep navy, to unite a room.

If you are wary of creating confusion with your collection of blues, stick to subtle variations of blue and your collection will maintain order. By grouping an eclectic collection of accessories together, from animals to vases, they gain a sense of grandeur.
Mixing pattern and scale is a classic way to add depth and impact to a room. And by doing this in blues will have a fresh and uplifting effect.

A touch of gloss will give a room that dash of glam and provide a sleek contrast to other textured blues in the room.

If you want to inject a modern edge into a classic space, choose serene and delicate duck egg blues and turquoises to give it that extra chic wow factor.

But for a real pop of color, go for an electric blue and you won't be disappointed. Your space will immediately be transformed.
