I've had a sneaky peek at what is being touted as hot ticket items for 2010 and here's what's made the cut:

Folk style: as the craft-is-cool trend gains momentum this style is probably one of the hottest trends for the coming year. Anything crafty, especially if it's sporting animal motifs, or those throw back to the 70s retro patterns will reach new heights of über coolness.

Big Blooms: those kitschy english florals on a grand scale are here in a big way (pardon the pun!) and you'll find them on everything from bedlinen to kitchenware.

Natural materials: wood has really carved out a place of its own for 2010 (another pun!), especially pieces celebrating its uniqueness by showing of the grain or the bark of individual pieces. You can throw in other natural materials into the mix, like stone pieces and metal to achieve a beautiful natural look.

Retro/Vintage: not new but certainly still holding ground this year are homewares with a retro or vintage feel.

Glam: This could either be country house inspired gone glamorous with bold splashes of elegant muted shades like Duck Egg Blue and Pinks and of course, no country home is complete without a stag head on the wall; or you can move East and go for a more Eastern inspired Glam using the rich and opulent colors like sumptuous purples and warm reds and combine them with metallics. Which ever you choose, the look is warm, inviting and glamorous.

OK - granted most of us do not have the time or money (energy?!) to alter the look of our homes along with emerging trends like the fast fashion of the clothing industry (not that I'm able to keep up with that either!) but you can inject a taste of most of these trends by simply choosing a few trend appropriate accessories such as a print, some throw cushions or even glassware like vases and ornaments and voila! You are so 2010.
