We all love having a peek inside other's homes - I'll admit it's a bit voyeuristic but also a great way to get ideas and inspiration. I'm sure that, like me, a lot of you get ideas from magazines but there's something comforting about seeing real people's homes isn't there? However, sometimes the hardest thing about making changes is knowing how to get from A to B. You know what you want but how do you get there?
Did you know that much of this information is at your fingertips via our favorite online magazines and blogs? On my list is Livingetc magazine that has a gallery of pictures for inspiration, a forum where you can chat and see how like-minded folk tackled their renos and they even have a designer on hand to offer professional deco advice. Also, there are loads great blogs that deal with this from the really comprehensive ones like Apartment Therapy right down to individual blogs like Yvestown. Even Ikea has a forum where people share their success stories! And the beauty of doing this online is if you see something you like, just save it in a file in your own computer and before long you'll have a mood board of ideas.
Another way to get ideas is by checking out real estate listings. Most sales are listed online nowadays and offer a pictorial tour of the home.
What's your favorite way of getting ideas, inspiration and help?
