Just finished speaking with Sara who is in overdrive trying to get everything ready for the Bemz installation at the upcoming Swedish Hem 2008. Hem 2008 is the biggest interior decoration and design fair in Sweden and is held in Stockholm in conjunction with the ever popular Hem & Villa Fair this October 9-12. While the latter focuses predominantly on big jobs like home renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and appliances, Hem 2008 is more about the smaller details, about inspiration, ideas... and shopping!
The theme for this year's show is "Green is good" focusing on sustainable materials and recycling, all of which sits close to our hearts and our business so we jumped right in. While Sara arranges wallpaper for the installation backdrop, designer stickers to decorate our paper bags (for those of you lucky enough to pick up a designer cushion cover at bargain expo price) and the finer details, Lisbeth and Katarina have been working frantically on the installation.
Without giving too much away, let me just say that unlike the traditional focus of displaying upcoming trends and selling products, we want our focus to be on inspiration and ideas, on personalization. The Bemz installation for Hem 2008 is themed "make me pretty". Katarina, who also works a lot with theater, is the brains behind the installation and wants it to be like a studio rather than a booth. We are really looking forward to seeing the fruits of her labors!
If you are planning on being there you may even have the opportunity to ask our in-house design experts, Katarina and Lisbeth, for advice as they will be on hand part of the time. Or just pop by to say hi and pick up some free swatches. You'll find us at B03:02.
I like the picture it shows in a smart way the variety of Bemz covers!
